Director: Dr. Sean O’Connor
Research Description: The Indiana Alcohol Research Center (IARC), established in 1987, has combined research excellence in animal models of alcohol preference, neurochemistry of addiction, biochemistry of alcohol metabolism, molecular biology and genetics of alcohol drinking, and translation of preclinical research findings to the bedside and to the community at large. Under the leadership of Dr. Sean O’Connor, The IARC has developed methods for the precise prescription of the time course of brain exposure to alcohol and for measuring the time course of self-administered alcohol. This tool allows TASI to conduct relevant tests involving the effects of alcohol on drivers of vehicles.
Central Equipment or Facilities: Computer-assisted Self-administration of Ethanol system (CASE)
